OWA Mesh Terrains
A collection of high performance mesh terrain prefabs. 54 Prefabs total, using 1 material with static batching right out of the box.
Why use mesh terrains instead of the unity terrain system? The short answer is that mesh terrains run tremendously faster.
These terrain blocks can be arranged however you want. There are currently 2 sizes including 128×128 meters and 256×256 meters. Each game object/model (FBX) is approximately 8,000 vertices each and they share the same material.
The meshes are shaded with a special triplaner projection shader. Many traditional mesh terrains are shaded using splatmaps; this shader keeps it simpler than that and you can use it on any terrain or mountain mesh.
Static batching out of the box. Runs fast as can be just like all the other Open World Assets. This asset pairs well with OWA Trees and Thick Phat Grass. You can expect much higher performance with this workflow than with traditional terrain set-ups.
Intended for use by those who want minimal draw calls and batches.
